Sony will soon market a pair of professional monitors, offering a better experience than LCD monitors. These will enclose the largest commercial OLED screens yet produced and are aimed at the broadcasting industry. The model with a 25-inch screen will come into markets on May Day while the one with a 17-inch screen will be on sale from 1st July. Both OLED monitors will cost only 10% more than the LCD monitors that they aim to replace.

LCD monitors require a back-light. Additionally, OLED monitors become jet black when a dark image is shown onscreen, as compared to LCD monitors that remain gray due to the back-light.
With Sony having taken a step forward for the display industry, optimists feel that new monitors could mean a larger OLED TV is on the way, but Sony isn't commenting.
